Natural family photography that captures the moments that matter

Family life moves quickly. One minute your baby has tiny fingers wrapped around yours, and before you know it those same hands
are holding crayons, school bags and eventually car keys.

Many families first find me when they are expecting a baby and book a newborn photography session in London, returning later for family photographs as their children grow.

It’s easy for those everyday moments to slip past unnoticed.

As a family photographer in London, my aim is to capture those fleeting stages of family life in a way that feels natural, relaxed and true to you. I photograph relaxed family photoshoots across London, including South East London, Dulwich, Beckenham, Bromley, Clapham, Richmond, Wimbledon and beyond.

From big milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries to the quieter moments of everyday family life, these photographs become part of your family history — memories that you and your children will return to for many years to come.

Many families also choose to turn their professionally edited photographs into beautiful prints or albums so these memories
can be enjoyed every day rather than simply stored on a screen.

And importantly, they make sure you are in the photographs too, not always the one behind the camera. And don’t worry, you don’t need to know anything about posing or knowing what to do — I’ll guide you through everything.

What a family photoshoot with me is like

Every family is different, which means every photoshoot is too.

My sessions are designed to feel relaxed and natural rather than overly posed or formal. You won’t be standing stiffly in a line wondering what to do with your hands.

Instead, I’ll gently guide you through the session, helping you interact naturally so we can capture genuine expressions and moments.

Sessions are always child-led, which means we work at the pace of your children.

If they need to run around, we’ll run around.
If they need a snack or a break, we pause.
If they need a quiet moment, we take one.

The goal is always the same: to create photographs that feel authentic, natural and full of personality. After your session, I carefully edit and professionally retouch your photographs so they look polished, while still feeling natural and true to life.

My sessions are designed to feel relaxed and enjoyable for everyone, so the experience itself becomes part of the memory, not just the photographs you take home afterwards.

I’ll gently guide you through the session, helping you interact naturally so we can capture genuine expressions and moments.

With more than 15 years’ experience as a professional photographer, I know how to find the best light, the most flattering angles and those little in-between moments that often become the most treasured photographs.

we're so pleased with the memories that we can now treasure forever! thank you, claire, for being the perfect family photographer. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to everyone. she made everyone feel at ease, the kids adored her, and she wasn’t phased by how manic things can get with kids in tow.

what was even more wonderful is that one of our children has additional needs and claire was just so brilliant with him. over the years we’ve been around people who can be unsure around those with disabilities and not sure how to be. claire didn’t bat an eyelid. so inclusive, so warm and lovely.

Where family photoshoots take place

Your family photoshoot can take place in a location that feels meaningful to you.

That might be:

• an outdoor session in your favourite park
• a relaxed photoshoot in your home
• or a session in my home studio in Penge, South East London

Each option offers a slightly different feel, and we can discuss what would work best for your family when planning your session.

Working with camera-shy families

Many of the families I photograph tell me they feel slightly awkward about being in front of the camera.

That’s completely normal.

I often work with children with additional needs (SEN) as well as adults who feel uncomfortable being photographed. With more than 15 years’ experience photographing families, I know how to create natural images even when children (or parents!) aren’t feeling particularly cooperative. My calm, supportive approach helps everyone feel at ease so the experience feels relaxed and enjoyable.

You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about how you’ll look — that’s my job.

I’ll guide you throughout the session so you can simply enjoy spending time together while I capture the moments that matter.

Some frequently asked questions

  • Family photography sessions start from £195, with packages starting from £395. There are several options available and I’m always happy to talk through what might work best for you.

  • There really isn’t a single “best” age for family photography. Every stage of childhood brings something different.

Some families choose to capture the early years when children are tiny and constantly changing, while others prefer to photograph slightly older children when personalities really start to shine.

The truth is that every age has its own magic — and the most important thing is simply capturing this moment in your family’s story before it passes.

  • Once you book your session I’ll send you a detailed guide with tips on what photographs well and how to coordinate outfits.

We’ll also have a call before the session so you feel fully prepared.

  • That’s absolutely fine. Children have big emotions and my sessions are designed to work around them.

We simply pause, take a break and continue when everyone is ready.

  • Living in the UK, that’s always a possibility! If the weather is truly unsuitable we can either reschedule, move the session indoors, or choose another location.

  • Absolutely. Dogs are very welcome — they’re part of the family too.

You will be able to access my online store directly from your gallery and there are a range of options available, from individual prints to framed artwork and albums that tell the story of your session.

I’m always happy to talk through the different options and help you choose something that works best for your home.
